Ok, for the ones that haven't been introduced to the little fellows, acording to Wikipedia, it is literally, a knitted stuffed toy, although lately it is more popular to find them crocheted! there are many flickr groups depicting them, and Ravelry groups as well!!
I wanted to make something small-ish but cute, and I came across this little sweetie... I knew I just had to make it!

Many hookers are making these cute toys, and some people even collect them. And you can get hundreds of free patterns online if you want to dip your toes in the amigurumi waters without risking investing too much in patterns ! check out THIS blog.. i mean, really... crocheted poo?

My sister has started doing amiguruni and she just LOVES it! And the kids do too;) It is super fun! If you do the roundish-shaped designs, they make cute hacky sacks too. Anyway, just thought I would drop the link to her blog. She has just started, so there are only a couple of posts, but she will be doing more soon;) .....

That is so cute. Did you know that "amigurumis" is a Japanese word? "Ami" means knit, and "gurumi" means "wrapped in". The actual word in "nui gurumi" which is "wrapped in sewing" but is translated as a stuffed animal! When reading your post I thought, "I've never heard of this word but it sure sounds Japanese and when I thought about it I realized it meant "wrapped in knitting."
